Embedded software research engineer

We are looking for a research-oriented embedded software specialist, potentially a PhD student, to join our development staff. As your first task, you will take a key role as a researcher in a starting R&D project, which is part of a 3-year EU ARTEMIS program, formed by an international consortium of research entities and companies. 

Competence and experience

Qualifications for this position are:
  • Solid experience of embedded Linux
  • Experience of many-core architectures and real-time systems
  • Good understanding of standards related to industrial safety requirements and directives
  • Good working knowledge in English in speech and writing
  • Pre-existing knowledge of industrial vehicle control systems and bus protocols is a plus

Duties

You will carry out research tasks in a project aiming to create a reference architecture for a future many-core system, predictable and flexible by definition, including its software platform and tool chain. Our tasks in this research consortium will focus on industrial use cases, the impact of safety requirements to the design, and adaptation of a Linux distribution to the reference architecture. Later, we expect our product platforms to have a key impact by the outcome of this research.

The position is within our Software Development Department in Tampere, Finland. The position can be filled starting April, 2012. Type of employment is permanent.
